Recruitment firm predicts Scottish boost for financial services contractorsContractors Freelancing NewsPosted on: 08 February 2010![]() Financial services contractors are set to see an increase in employment opportunities in Scotland this year, a recruitment agency has claimed.
The temporary staffing market held its own in 2009 despite the effects of the recession, with 17 per cent of firms responding to a poll by Joslin Rowe announcing that they had recruited contractors over the course of the year. This is a similar figure to the 18 per cent which used the services of temporary workers in 2008, the pollster revealed. And the firm went on to reveal that financial services contractors will be in rising demand north of the border in 2010. Almost a fifth of respondents anticipated increasing their contractor headcount over the year, three times higher than was predicted last year. This will come as a reassurance for financial services contractors, after Clive Lewis of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales told Building Magazine that employment will be hit by the forthcoming rise in National Insurance contributions.
